Okay, wait, why haven't I been to this place yet?
I mean, I understand why I haven't been to, say, Mississippi, North Dakota, Kansas or Kentucky. Someday I'll make it to all of those. But if my travels are a gaptooth smile, Oregon is the gap. Besides Alaska, it's the only Western (or far Western if you're back East) state I haven't visited.
I'll see what I can do.

I give Oregon an A+. My question is, how did you get to Washington without going through Oregon? I guess Montana, but that seems so roundabout.
the reason i haven't been to oregon is most likely that i don't have any family in oregon.
when i was a kid, we visited family (sometimes second-cousins or great uncles--not the closest relatives) in Colorado, TX/NM (El Paso), AZ, CA, WA, MT and ID. Never had famiy in NV, but crossed it many times. Ditto for Wyoming--but we also went to Wyoming of its own accord: Yellowstone, skiing and even just randomly to accompany my Grandpa on work.
we drove up into montana through yellowstone twice (?) when I was a kid, once going all the way to missoula because my great uncle lived there.
another time, after visiting cousins in boise, we went all the way up to coeur d'alene (no family there). but we never crossed into oregon.
i had cousins on one side and an aunt on the other in seattle, and we visited more than once, but we always flew--so i never drove through oregon.
i might take the super long way to OC from SLC when I fly back and try to drive the PCH down the Oregon Coast and through California. We'll see how I feel.
MATT!!!! I can't believe you!!! Next time I go back to visit the fam, I will make you meet me there. Seriously, you HAVE to go. It is as beautiful as Vermont, more chill people than NoCal, and has mountains as rad as Washington. It is BY FAR my most favorite state. And that is why I refuse to re-register my car anywhere else. I heart my Oregon plates and everything else Oregon-ish.
Let me know what else I need to do to convince you. You will LOVE IT!
